  • Feed Preparation: The feed contains multiple amounts of unwanted compounds and mixtures that are heated, resulting in partial vaporization. This is the first and most important process. The heated feed is sent towards the column and specific trays, differentiated as per their base composition. We have used advanced heat integration systems in our modern distillation column systems, designed with pinch analysis, consuming heat from previous operations and reusing it for upcoming operations for energy savings.
  • Entry into the Column: The heated feed enters the column and is distributed into the trays based on their properties, design, and separation process. As per the volume of each mixture, the heavier component goes downwards while the lighter one gets vaporized. The trays and packing provide larger surface areas and efficient mass transfer for the constant workflow of the mixture. Our distillation columns are designed with high-performance internals and have low-pressure-drop structured packing. To improve separation efficiency, the feed optimization is done through AI (artificial intelligence) in our column internals.
  • Vapor-Liquid Contact and Mass Transfer: When the feed enters the column, the vapor phase, which has a lower density, rises to the upper side, while the liquid phase, having a higher gravity, descends. These phases come into contact with the trays and packing, forming a mass transfer. The trays and packing help retain the liquid while allowing vapor to escape, creating bubbles. The enhanced structural packing in the internal columns facilitates the mixing of liquid into pure form, reducing friction and improving mass transfer.
  • Condensation in the Overhead Condenser: As vapor rises into the column and reaches the overhead condenser, it is cooled, producing highly pure liquid compounds that contain lighter components. Attached relax drums collect the condensed vapor, while the remaining portion of the liquid is sent back towards the distillation process. Our new technological hybrid condensers have dual functionalities, such as air-cooled and water-cooled, which reduce water usage and improve overall energy efficiency.
  • Reboiling at the Bottom of the Column: After the condensation process, the remaining liquid is collected in the column and reheated in the reboiler. The generated vapor is sent back to the column to interact with the liquid descending from the trays. In the stripping section, the heavy component is stripped back from the liquid. We have attached a high-quality heat-integrated reboiler in our distillation column internals, utilizing heat pump-assisted vapor recompression to improve energy efficiency and reuse for reboiling.
